ABSTRACT

Intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia (IPEH) or reactive vascular endothelial lesion is a rare benign condition and is also known as Masson’s haemangioma. Blood vessel injury or venous thrombosis may predispose to this condition. Distinction of reactive entities from neoplastic condition like angiosarcoma is important. A case of cutaneous IPEH in forearm of an adult male is being reported here.

ABSTRACT

We review the present knowledge of serum fucose with special attention to its relation with various malignant diseases. We summarize the role of serum fucose as a useful diagnostic and prognostic marker when used singly or in combination. The purpose of this review is to provide an expert opinion on the practical and applied aspect of serum fucose level in clinical practice and research settings. Our review is based on information from published research studies, library books, and electronic searches through Medline and PubMed. The available published data were used as the basis for recommendations. Each of the subsections concludes to provide information to assist the clinicians and the research scientists make informed decisions.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study is to present the status of transfusion –transmitted infections among the apparently healthy donors so as to increase the awareness of complications of blood transfusion and make the clinicians more vigilant with regard to judicious use of blood. A total of 5008 units of donor’s blood was screened from January 2006 to December 2008 at blood bank of People’s Hospital, Bhopal. The result of screening showed total seropositive samples for hepatitis B (2.9%), hepatitis C (0.57%), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV; 0.51% ) and Venereal Disease Research Laboratory Test (VDRL; 0.23%) by using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA ) methods, and rapid plasma regain (RPR) method for syphilis.
